An Original Kenya Adventure with Peter Cadot

"Sleeping under canvas always abounds romanticism, the wilderness noises, to lull you, into peaceful sleep."

Your Guide
Peter Cadot always carries two things on safari: his unrivalled natural knowledge and a bounty of bush skills born from three generations in the Kenyan wilderness. Ever since his grandfather arrived in Nairobi aboard an ox wagon in 1917, Peter's family has lived and worked in the Kenyan countryside. Since completing his education in England, Peter has dedicated his life to the safari industry, running game lodges and camping adventures around East Africa. He is renowned for his deep knowledge of the local flora and fauna, his close relations with the Samburu and Maasai communities, his warm humor, and his legendary campfire wit. But beware, not all tales he tells are as tall as they may seem!

There are many delightful places to visit and stay, and therefore, itineraries for our Private Luxury Mobile Tented Camping Safaris are drawn up by you in close consultation with Peter Cadot. Most private luxury tented Safaris include a night or two in some of the finest homestays, lodges and hotels in Kenya, an essential element while your camp is being moved to its next location. We have carefully selected these homestays, lodges and hotels according to their standards, criteria and our own evaluations and long-term relationships.

About Your Private Mobile Luxury Tented Camp
Your accommodation tent has all the luxuries that you may require, two full-sized single beds (or by special request a double bed), dressing table, luggage rack, wash basin, chairs, warm blankets, (hot water bottles for cold nights) sheets, pillows, towels, mirrors, tissues, flashlights, carpets and en-suite bush shower and toilet. The room attendants will dedicate their time to your comforts and convenience, to the extent of knowing how hot you like your shower! The dinning tent, situated close to the campfire, has a fully stocked bar with your preferred "Cocktail", and lashings of ice, made from mineral water. Our well-trained camp stewards will serve you a full English breakfast 'al fresco', when you are ready and the wildlife action is complete. Lunch will be served either in Camp or picnic style in the bush. After cocktails by the 'camp fire', a relaxed candlelit dinner is served by waiters resplendent in their uniforms. Perhaps Prawns du Chef, tender fillet mignon, served with Béarnaise sauce or Duck a l'orange, and flambéed crepes Suzette for dessert. The Safari Chef prepares your food, in the camp kitchen using barbeques or a 'Dutch oven', (a traditional design for baking. The fresh bread will amaze you!), to a standard totally unexpected in the heart of the African bush.

Samburu Private Luxury Tented Camp

Our Safari begins with a private charter flight to the north of Nairobi, Samburu National Reserve. This arid reserve harks back to the savage wilderness encountered by the early explorers. Our Private camp is set on the peaceful banks of the Uaso Nyiro River, under the shade of the giant river acacias.

Days 2-4: Samburu National Reserve

Samburu Private Luxury Tented Camp

Three full days in Samburu offers views of all the great game from large herds of elephant to lion, leopard and rarer species such as gerenuk and Oryx. We will also visit the Samburu people and interact with them and witness their customs and traditions. Peter has retained many firm friendships from the two years he lived in Samburuland.

Day 5: Borana or Mount Kenya

Borana Lodge or Mount Kenya Safari Club

A short drive south to Nanyuki for a night of unabashed luxury at the former home of actor William Holden. In the Mount Kenya Safari Club's 100 acre grounds, we can swim, walk, play golf, tennis, or simply relax in the beautiful gardens.

Or...

Borana Lodge - Situated on a 35,000 acres of untouched wilderness on the edge of the Laikipia plateau, Borana boasts some of the finest game-viewing and most luxurious accommodation in Africa. As a private ranch dedicated to conserving wildlife, Borana offers unparalleled freedom to explore the Africa of yesteryear on foot, on horseback, or in open-backed Land Rovers. The accommodation is in thatched cottages with deep baths, open fireplaces and panoramic verandahs, and the cuisine is locally grown and delectable.

Day 9: Lake Naivasha

Crater Lake/Longonot Ranch

Today we crest the panoramic shoulder of the Great Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha, famed as the heartland of Kenya's original settler community. Peter has spent several years in this area, and will take us walking on the plains around Mt Longonot. We will stay at the beautiful lakeside camp at Crater Lake or a classic manor house on Longonot Ranch.

Day 10: Rusinga Island

We board a charter flight to Rusinga Island in Lake Victoria, the second largest fresh water lake in the world, a 50-minute flight from Naivasha. Here we can go fishing for giant Nile perch, explore the Island's ancient archeological site, windsurf, water ski or visit the Ruma game park, home to several species not seen elsewhere in Kenya.

On the sweeping river-fed plains, the whole of wild Africa congregates, from elephant and buffalo to the prowling cats and huge herds of plains game. This is home for the next three days.

Our two days offer a veritable wildlife feast, as Peter hosts a variety of game drives across the world's busiest wilderness.
